Welcome to Camden Symphony Orchestra

Welcome to Camden Symphony Orchestra

Camden Symphony Orchestra is one of London's leading non-professional orchestras. We have been a mainstay of musical life in north London for more than forty years with around seventy regular players. Under our Musical Director Levon Parikian, CSO seeks to combine the familiar staples of the Classical, Romantic and 20th century repertoire with less well-known and more challenging works. We rehearse on a weekly basis and perform three major orchestral concerts a year.

Our most recent concert programmes have included Dvořák's sixth and Sibelius' fifth symphonies, 'All That Jazz' featuring Shostakovich's Suite for Variety Stage Orchestra, and a Family Concert featuring Britten's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. Recent concerto performances include Strauss' first horn concerto, piano concertos by Brahms and Rachmaninov, Artie Shaw's Clarinet Concerto and Arutiunian's Trumpet Concerto. The orchestra has performed a number of operas, and a wide range of choral works including Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem, Handel's Coronation Anthems, Haydn's The Creation and Mozart's Requiem. In November 2019 we were invited to accompany the choir of St Michael's Church, Camden Town in a special Evensong service including music by Elgar, Howells and Parry. We look forward to seeing you at our next concert, and we're always pleased to hear from instrumentalists keen to play with us.
